How Does the EZ 1000 Work?

Historically the various elements of an eddy current measurement chain have been expensive to keep on hand for replacement or outage planning. Factory-required calibration of the converter meant dozens of spare parts or long lead times for replacements. The EZ 1000 sensor chain can be calibrated in the field for most applications with a simple button push.

Traditional eddy current chains parts management can be difficult, due to each sensor chain being factory calibrated to specific sensor length, target material, measurement distance, etc. Inevitably the sensor part that you need to get the machine or monitoring system back up and running will be the one you don’t have in stock. With the EZ 1000 digital eddy current converter, measurement chain part management is simplified by moving from multiple specific purpose converters to one user configurable converter, for easy in-the-field calibration to any sensor length, target material, measurement distance, etc. when you need it.

What Can the EZ 1000 Be Used For?

The EZ 1000 measurement chain equipment complies with API 670 certification and is certified for installation in environments where Class 1 Div2/ATEX Zone 2approvals are required. To add further flexibility, the EZ 1000 is able to survive tough plant environments and improve installation ease with steel-shielded cabling, enhanced oil tightness, and easy-to-use twist connections.

Organizations can shorten the length of process shutdowns due to measurement chain failures with a single, do-it-all EZ 1000 digital converter that can be configured to support all eddy current sensors in the field. The single converter-that technicians configure and calibrate digitally via USB-is compatible even with third-party sensors. Users no longer must incur downtime while waiting for factory calibration of replacement parts.

Eddy current sensors are a fundamental technology for identifying displacement in turbo machinery, and can be critical in identifying developing faults that can ultimately lead to production shutdowns.

The EZ 1000 digital converter simplifies the chain ordering process and further reduces lead time by allowing users to order a single converter part number for use with any length or type of 5 or 8 mm sensor.
