With the deadline for recording flare emissions approaching, our customer had to act fast to comply to regulatory requirements. This included identifying the source of each release, implementing redundant prevention measures, and reporting emissions during startup and shutdown. 

To enable regulatory compliance, Proconex installed Rosemount auditory sensors on dozens of PRVs across multiple sites leveraging a wireless infrastructure to minimize installation costs and maintenance. Measurements were streamed to Emerson AMS where they were then passed to an OSI PI system. The implemented sensors, infrastructure, and integration enable the reporting and record keeping necessary to fulfill EPA requirements. More so, they enable a vision of fully integrated and automated reporting.

Taking the solution a step further…integrating with our customer’s environmental health and safety system would enable automatic document creation, recording pressure relief valve instances and triggering workflows if necessary. Additionally, integration with weather providers could enable calculation of environmental impact without human intervention, streamlining the fulfillment of EPA requirements and reporting.
